A handsome and popular American dancer, choreographer, singer, musician and actor, who was admired for his dancing style, Fred Astaire was born on May 10, 1899. His amazing career spanned 76 years during which time he appeared in 31 musical films.
If you would have asked Astaire himself he would have said that he couldn’t sing but critics disagreed. He is known to have introduced some of the most popular songs from his time. All of them are still listened to today especially while watching Astaire sing and dance.
“Night and Day” by Cole Porter
“Cheek to Cheek” by Irving Berlin
Some other songs associated with Fred Astaire are
“Steppin’ Out With My Baby” and
“Puttin’ On the Ritz”
For an evening of romance there is nothing like putting on an Astaire tune and dancing cheek to cheek.
